Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center is the flagship hospital of Health First on the Space Coast, located on S Hickory Street in Melbourne. It is a regional medical center and Level II trauma center with 550 licensed beds, which makes it the hospital many Brevard County families end up at after an accident or a serious diagnosis.
Good news first: unlike many hospitals that say nothing at all, Health First actively encourages flowers. Its system-wide patient pages describe sending an arrangement as a way to support someone through recovery, and the health system offers its own online flower ordering page.
What Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center allows
In plain terms, Health First says flowers are delivered right to the patient's bedside whenever that's possible, and it openly invites flower deliveries for patients. That is about as clear a welcome as a hospital gives.
Two caveats. First, the words "whenever possible" matter. A patient in intensive care, or one whose care team has asked for no flowers, may not get the arrangement at the bedside. Second, the pages we could read are system-wide; the Holmes-specific page was blocked when we checked. Health First doesn't publish separate rules for balloons or potted plants, so if you plan to send either, ask first. In many hospitals latex balloons are kept out because of allergies, and that's a reasonable thing to check here too.
Based on the hospital's own website, checked October 31, 2026.
Where the delivery goes
Visitation at Health First is open 24 hours a day for all departments, but entry is controlled. Everyone who comes in passes through weapons detection and shows a government-issued photo ID, and visitors check in at the Visitor ID Badging Station. Florist drivers go through the same doors, which is one reason giving the florist complete details keeps things moving.
On any outside order, include:
- The patient's full name as registered
- Room or unit, if you know it
- Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center, 1350 S Hickory St, Melbourne, FL 32901
- Your phone number
If you need to confirm the patient is still admitted, the main line is (321) 434-7000. Trauma and surgical stays can be short, and a delivery after discharge won't follow the patient home. Check our same-day cutoffs if you're ordering late in the day.
If flowers aren't an option
Health First also lets you send a message to a patient through its patient message page, which is a good option if flowers aren't right for the moment, for example in critical care. A card or a short note often matters as much as the bouquet. If the patient is going home soon, a local florist can deliver to the house instead.
What to send to a patient here
Because flowers are welcome, you can focus on fit. A medium arrangement in a weighted vase suits a single room; a smaller one is better if the patient shares. Florida's bright blooms work well here: sunflowers, orange roses, gerberas. If the patient is recovering from trauma surgery, low-scent flowers are kinder to someone feeling nauseated. Our get-well flowers guide has more ideas, and card message tips help you say the right thing.
